More than 80 persons
representing Elementary and High Schools, School Districts, providers of Child and Family Services, Guidance Centers, Mental
Health and Substance Abuse treatment, Legal Aid, Community Services and Law Enforcement. Attendees were
school counselors, program coordinators, medical and social case workers, nurses and MSWs and MFTs.
Carry Wong, Staff Attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services,
presented on legal issues specific to Domestic Violence for adults and minors, VAWA issues as they apply to immigrant adults
and abused children, U Visas, Special Juvenile Immigrant Status, and other resources available to citizens, residents, and
undocumented persons.
Dr. Michi Fu, Program Director, Asian Pacific Family Center
of Pacific Clinics, presented on how Domestic Violence and Child Abuse manifests in adults and children, specifically physical
symptomology, cultural perspectives and how to therapeutically address Domestic Violence and Child Abuse in culturally relevant
ways.
